How Players United Using WhatsApp to Help Suspend Liga Amidst Covid-19 Crisis

Per a story by Record, various team captains used two WhatsApp groups to communicate electronically and come to a decision to encourage authorities to suspend the season, rather than play in an empty stadium.

The Players Union helped set up the WhatsApp groups.

André Almeida (Benfica), Danilo (FC Porto), Wilson Eduardo (SC Braga), Coates (Sporting CP), José Semedo (V. Setubal), Tarantini (Rio Ave), and André André (V. Guimaraes) were among the various captains who brought their joint opinion to Fernando Gomes, President of the Portugal Federation.

Gomes eventually agreed to their positioning.

The news of Juventus footballer Daniele Rugani testing positive also helped player opinion.

All the clubs have players training from home with some exceptions of players doing individual visits to their training facilities.
