Luis Figo was asked his thoughts about Sporting CP paying the release clause of 10 million to SC Braga to obtain Ruben Amorim as their next manager.
“I think it is an important bet on the part of the club for the amount we are talking about, for a country like Portugal, and for the financial situation of Sporting. In my personal opinion, it is crazy to pay that amount for a manager, but it is a decision of who manages the club and they certainly have more information than I can to talk about the financial part.”
Portugal has been abuzz the last 48 hours at the move of Sporting to get Amorim, who handled his first training session yesterday and was later introduced to the press.
Amorim will make his debut this weekend in Alvalade against last place Aves.
