Joao Félix, who has been out of action since late January with muscular pain, saw his health situation suffer another setback after now being diagnosed with pharyngotonsillitis.
Pharyngotonsillitis is an inflammatory condition involving the pharyngeal wall (tonsils).
Félix has not trained in recent days because of it and it puts at risk his availabilty for next week’s Champions League match up against Liverpool.
Félix’s first season at Atletico has not gone as expected after he was bought last summer in a eye-opening €120+ million euro sale from Benfica.
Paulo Futre, a highly respected player in Portuguese history and a former player for Atletico, has asked for more patience from fans in Spain and defended him.
