FC Porto Stun Benfica in Estádio da Luz

FC Porto has been under the hot spotlight of late, due to their Champions League elimination and Liga opener loss to Gil Vicente, but goals by Zé Luís and Marega stunned a crowd of 62,735 in the Estádio da Luz on Saturday night.

Zé Luís scored first in the 22nd minute off a corner kick, and Marega, only minutes after missing a one-on-one against Vlachodimos, made no mistake with his second chance in the 87th minute to silence crowd with the 2-0 scoreline.

The loss was the first for Bruno Lage as the Benfica manager in Liga play – a span of 22 matches dating back to January of this year.

Benfica also surrendered their first two goals of the season.

FC Porto’s two goals could prove crucial if the two teams finished tied at the end of the season.

FC Porto host Vitoria Guimaraes next week, while Benfica play at SC Braga.

Sporting CP close out Week 3 Sunday night at Portimonense.
