Bruno Lage announced his 18 player match day roster for Monday night (20:15, BTV) against Maritimo in the Luz.
Benfica is in a must-win situation after FC Porto won their match (1-0) Saturday night on a rebound goal by Marega.
Rafa is unavailable, due to suspension, while Yuri, Jota, Krovinovic, and Fejsa do not feature on the list.
Fejsa is in yellow card danger and would have missed the match at SC Braga (next week) if he picked up a yellow against Maritimo.
Jonas, Jardel, Ruben Dias, and Cervi will all be in yellow card danger tomorrow night.
Taraabt and Zivkovic are back on the call up list again
Lage was quick to deny any player being held back by yellow card danger.
“We do not look at this, there can be no management in this regard. It will always be the best eleven, regardless of whether they have a minimum margin of error to see a yellow and miss the next match,” said Lage.
Lage also warned of taking Maritimo less seriously, due to their record.
“They are a very competent, organized and tough team. A little to the image of what their manager Petit was as a player. It is not worth looking at their record, whether they win or lose away from home, because each match has a different story. They will show up looking to get points in their battle to stay up,” he concluded.
Lage was also asked who will replace Rafa, but he hadn’t decided yet.
“Taarabt or Salvio? That is the big question that I have not resolved yet. We have to take into account how Petit teams usually play.”
