Sporting CP Studying Idea of Adding Cristiano Ronaldo’s Brand CR7 to Future Stadium Rights Name

Cristiano Ronaldo has a statue in Madeira.

He also has an airport named after him in Madeira.

Now, will Cristiano get to attach his brand name CR7 to Estádio José Alvalade? There is a report out about it, per O Jogo.

That is an idea that Sporting CP and boss Frederico Varanadas are considering. Adding CR7 to the stadium name would make a future naming rights deal very attractive to potential sponsors, particularly in Asia where Cristiano is hugely popular.

Sporting are considering other ideas as well, but this idea is being well received, due to the potential it brings and recognition.

Cristiano played in the debut match of Estádio José Alvalade back in August 2003 against Manchester United, where his performance impressed Alex Ferguson so much they later bought him for £12.24 million. Back then a price that was respected, but today mere peanuts.
